SM Development Corp. (SMDC) takes community building to heart. It pushes the boundaries of sustainable living by putting a premium on its residents’ well-being and nurturing its communities so residents can become responsible corporate citizens.
Award-giving bodies have taken notice. SMDC’s community engagement programs won three Anvil awards during the 55th Anvil Awards Gabi ng Parangal held on February 29 at the Manila Hotel.
SMDC bagged a Gold and a Silver Anvil for its Protect Our Community program, which teaches residents and tenants basic tools and knowledge to ensure that they are prepared and ready for emergencies, both natural and man-made. This yearlong forum series is part of The Good Guys campaign, which is being done across SMDC developments in partnership with the Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Bureau of Fire Protection and the Philippine National Red Cross.
Its health and wellness program for the elderly residents bagged a Silver Anvil for its month-long Grandparents’ Day celebration. SMDC took a holistic approach to enhance the well-being of its elder residents with activities that stimulated their minds, bodies and spirits.
“We continue to take a step further to becoming the good guys the nation needs by committing ourselves to sustainable practices, embracing a practical lifestyle, and building a community that protects and cares for each other and our neighboring communities,” said SMDC President Jose Mari Banzon.
Earlier, SMDC’s Happynings: Building a Sphere of Happy, Thriving and Healthy Communities program received a merit award for customer service from the Philippine Quill Awards.
Fueled by the vision of SMDC chairman Henry Sy Jr., the company continues to prove that it is definitely “The Home of the Good Guys” by providing residents avenues where they can connect with other people; nurture their body, mind and soul; and feel safe and secure through various activities happening in all its developments.
